The fund was founded in 2013, in memory of Raymond Vargas, Jr. Raymond and his wife, Yolanda, had a passion for agriculture that lead to raising their two daughters, Hilari and Rachel, surrounded by livestock, guidance, and inspiration. Raymond believed that raising animals could teach children responsibility, compassion, the importance of agriculture to our world, and that its future success was held in the hands of youth. Constantly, Raymond and Yolanda put forth countless efforts toward helping kids reach for the stars. Through leadership, structure, benevolence, and a heart bigger than the span of Texas, he inspired and taught many to be tomorrow's greatest leaders. Although Raymond has passed, his legacy and contributions to the world live on today. We remember him by helping to make the lives of young agriculturists and their families a little easier, in any way that we can. The fund consists of the Flying V Scholarship Program, awarded to first generation college agriculture majors, and the Save a Star Program, dedicated to assisting others with payments for livestock veterinary bills.
To the greatest man to ever walk this earth, and the strongest mother there ever was, thank you for all of the light, hope, excitement and inspiration you brought into our world.
Through our scholarship program, we honor all of the Vargas' who have touched the lives of many, and whom we dearly miss.
